At A Premium: The Cost of Water

I was challenged by a colleague to "do a piece about water." Research revealed the many bizarre facets of water in modern society: global water resource privatization issues, the enormously successful capitalist venture of bottling and selling previously-almost free local water by leading soda brands, the increasing status symbol of bottled island waters, the enormous amount of fossil fuels used to transport "exotic waters" thousands of miles and to make the plastic bottle itself that is rarely recycled, it became clear that bottled water is now far more expensive than fuel.
"Fill 'er up." ...with tap water.
