The labor-intensive process of re-creating a tree is commentary on the labor-intensive practice of diligent recycling in my community without the luxury of curbside recycling. No matter how much I have been able to reduce waste and increase my recycling efforts, I fight a losing battle to reduce the ever-growing volume of packaging that adds to the recycling stream.
Another facet of this work comments dualistically on the short lifespan of paper product usage in contemporary society contrasting sharply to the length of time it takes for a tree to grow new wood via annual growth rings.
